NYPD 50-Round Handgun Qualification Drill

Full-Size & Scaled for 8.5×11 B-27 Target

🔹 Overview

The NYPD handgun qualification is a 50-round timed shooting drill used to certify New York City police officers on the Glock 19 or similar duty-sized semi-automatic pistols. It’s designed to test accuracy, reload proficiency, and time management — all under pressure.

This is a solid benchmark drill for:

  • CCW holders
  • Armed security officers
  • Firearms instructors
  • Anyone looking to test their basic defensive shooting skills

We’ve provided both the standard full-distance course and a printable scaled version on an 8.5″ x 11″ B-27 target(see below).

🔹 Instructor Notes

  • NYPD officers shoot from low ready, not from the holster
  • The drill assumes a semi-auto pistol only — revolvers are not used
  • You can incorporate holster draws for advanced-level training
  • Ideal for cold-starts or benchmark progress tracking
