What Are the Requirements to Get a Colorado Concealed Carry Permit?

To obtain a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP), you must be at least 21 years old, be a legal resident of Colorado or a qualifying military member, complete approved firearms training, and meet all eligibility requirements established by Colorado law.

Does This Concealed Carry Class Meet Colorado CHP Requirements?

Yes. Our Colorado concealed carry class meets the state’s training requirements for both new concealed handgun permit applicants and renewal applicants. The course includes classroom instruction, a written examination, and live-fire qualification.

Are Your Instructors Verified by the State of Colorado?

Yes. Our instructors are Verified Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) Instructors authorized to provide concealed carry training and issue qualifying training certificates for Colorado permit applicants.

What Is a Verified CHP Instructor?

A Verified CHP Instructor is approved under Colorado law to provide concealed handgun permit training and issue training certificates that may be submitted with a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit application.

Why Should I Train With a Verified CHP Instructor?

Colorado law requires concealed carry training to be provided by a verified instructor. Training with a verified instructor ensures your certificate meets Colorado permit application requirements.

How Long Are the Colorado Concealed Carry Classes?

Our New Applicant Concealed Carry Class is approximately 9 hours long and typically runs from 9:00–9:30 AM until about 6:00 PM. Our Renewal Concealed Carry Class is approximately 4.5 hours long and begins at 10:00 AM. Both classes include classroom instruction, a written examination, and live-fire qualification.

Do You Offer Both New Applicant and Renewal Classes?

Yes. We offer Colorado concealed carry classes for both first-time permit applicants and permit holders seeking renewal training.

Is This Concealed Carry Class Beginner Friendly?

Absolutely. Our instructors regularly work with first-time firearm owners and new shooters. No prior firearms experience is required.

Do I Need Firearm Experience to Take a Concealed Carry Class?

No. Our classes are designed for both beginners and experienced firearm owners. No prior firearms experience is required.

Can I Take a Concealed Carry Class If I Don’t Own a Firearm?

Yes. Many students take the class before purchasing a firearm. We offer firearm rental options for students who do not own a firearm.

Can I Rent a Firearm for the Class?

Yes. Firearm rentals are available and can be added during registration. This is a great option for students who are new to firearms or who have not yet purchased one.

Do I Need Hearing and Eye Protection?

Yes. Hearing and eye protection are required for the live-fire portion of the class. If you do not have your own equipment, hearing and eye protection can be purchased during registration.

Is Live-Fire Training Included in the Concealed Carry Class?

Yes. Live-fire training and qualification are included as part of the course. Students will demonstrate safe firearm handling and basic marksmanship skills under instructor supervision.

What Topics Are Covered in the Colorado Concealed Carry Class?

Topics include firearm safety, Colorado law, self-defense laws, use of force, conflict avoidance, concealed carry best practices, firearms fundamentals, live-fire training, and the Colorado permit application process.

What Should I Bring to My Colorado Concealed Carry Class?

Students should bring a valid photo ID, their firearm (if applicable), hearing protection, eye protection, ammunition, and any required range equipment. Detailed instructions will be provided after registration.

Is There a Written Test in the Concealed Carry Class?

Is There a Shooting Qualification for a Colorado Concealed Carry Permit?

Yes. Students must successfully complete a live-fire qualification demonstrating safe firearm handling and basic shooting proficiency.

What Happens If I Have Never Shot a Firearm Before?

That’s completely okay. Our instructors regularly work with first-time shooters and provide guidance throughout both the classroom and live-fire portions of the course.

Will I Receive a Certificate After Completing the Class?

Yes. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of training that may be used when applying for a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit.

How Long Is My Colorado Concealed Carry Certificate Valid?

Training certificates are generally valid for one year from the date of completion, giving students ample time to submit their permit application.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Colorado Concealed Carry Permit?

Processing times vary by county, but Colorado sheriffs generally have up to 90 days to process a concealed handgun permit application after receiving a complete application.

Can I Take This Class to Renew My Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit?

Yes. We offer both new applicant and renewal concealed carry classes. Renewal students receive updated training, live-fire qualification, and a review of current laws and best practices.

Can I Take the Class If My Permit Has Already Expired?

In many cases, yes. Colorado provides a grace period for permit renewals. However, eligibility depends on your specific circumstances and how long your permit has been expired.

How Many Students Are Typically in a Class?

Most classes are intentionally kept small, typically between 8 and 12 students, allowing for more individualized instruction and coaching.

Can I Book a Private Concealed Carry Class?

Yes. We offer private concealed carry classes for families, friends, businesses, churches, and other organizations throughout Colorado.

What Happens After I Complete the Concealed Carry Class?

After successfully completing the course, you’ll receive your training certificate and instructions for submitting your concealed handgun permit application through your local sheriff’s office. Once approved, your permit will be mailed directly to you by the issuing agency.
